Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens

Was Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens a great movie? Hmm depends on which POV you look at it from…as a long-time fan from a multi-tiered perspective, it was pretty good. Not GREAT all over but great in some places, not so great in other places. As a non-FAN just someone who enjoys the movies, it was pretty awesome. As a *movie* fanatic, it is not hard to find some serious flaws in the execution. As a writer, there are some very serious flaws. The pacing was rather limp, though the editing was excellent. Sets, costumes, makeup were all FLAWLESS. Battle scenes in air were great but kind of rushed, however battles scenes on the ground were opposite: stilted and not as believable. Story was good except one thing: way too rushed. That movie should have been at least two movies. As a consequence, the villain was not engaging, the denouement was not as gripping, and the tear-jerk scene wasn’t as hard-hitting as it could have been. The chemistry between protagonists was great. The overall structure of the story was good (would have been great except the politics was like “wtf?”) but many of the details were lacking.
